艺术历程

 长发卷曲不修边幅外表粗犷内心细腻的刘亚明,出生在四川内江——那块出过国画大师张大千的土地上。这位已在首都画界名声大扬的青年画家,是靠自学起步更靠对油画的酷爱成功的。

他的艺术成长经历使人感叹,少小拜师学画,给电影院看门扫地学画,到了电视台工作还是学画,终于在1985年有了到北京电影学院美术系进修电视美术设计的机会。当时,他的油画已在不断的自学中具有了专业水平,其技艺和名声都在京城丰沛的文化气氛里迅速提升。他曾在《渴望》和《编辑部的故事》两个电视剧中担任美工,虽然两个片子名声鼎沸,但他就在这个时候以常人少有的勇敢和坚毅,为了油画而放弃了“铁饭碗”, 成为所谓在北京的“盲流画家”之一。如饥似渴的学习,疯狂如颠的创作,凭头脑靠力气赚钱求生存,构成了刘亚明在北京的全部生活。

1988年以后,中国大陆十多家国家级报刊杂志,如《美术》、《中国青年报》、《北京周报》、《中国日报》、《艺术家》、《当代艺术家》等均隆重介绍过刘亚明和他的作品。1991年,他的油画《有八十九个子孙的藏族长老》,成了德文版中国杂志《桥》创刊号封面作品,受到极好的评价,也使他的画作受到更多人的重视。

于是北京音乐厅画廊、长富宫画廊、国际艺苑画廊,天伦一朝画廊、燕莎画廊等纷纷邀请刘亚明作品陈列。有名的北京艺森画廊还在古色古香的德胜门城楼为刘亚明举办作品展,在古典与现代交融的艺术氛围中,更使人感受到刘亚明油画对视觉的感召力和对心灵的冲击力。他以冷峻的色彩与用光,继承以伦勃朗为代表的绘画传统,寻求完整而纯净的古典之美。而在新世纪的阳光下北京日趋现代的环境里,他的油画从线条到整体都漾溢着现代魅力,难怪有那么多观众在他的《城》、《化装》、《戴黑帽的奶奶》、《绿绸子》、《阿支的舞台》等画前留连许久不肯离去。购买刘亚明油画的人士,除了国内有识之土,还包括不少来自欧美台港的画商和爱好者、收藏者。

1994年3月,31岁的刘亚明应美国俄州首府哥伦比亚市著名的罗伊·比夫艺术馆的邀请,举办了他在国外的第一次画展。年轻的中国油画家着实给了眼光颇高的美国人一个惊喜OO一幅题为《奶奶》的作品,画布上老人家那道深邃中透着慈爱而慈爱中己显呆滞的目光,有一种震撼人心的力度;而在《裸钟》、《林琳》等作品中,东方女性的柔美和温婉得到了质感强烈的表现;更有那个性格倔强的少数民族少女的肖像,竟使参观者仿佛透过画面去到神秘的云贵高原,不但触摸到了《千年阳光》,还触摸到了画家那年轻而炽热的心……《纽约时报》、《美国亚洲报》等多家报刊和电视台纷纷报道画展盛况,《世界日报》还以连载形式刊发关于刘亚明的长篇报道。

就在这次画展背后,还有一个传奇故事:美国律师戴尔·史塔克斯先生1992年到北京旅游,一天晚上到宾馆外宵夜,忽然感觉路边橱窗内有人向他注视,定睛一看,原来是一幅真人尺寸大小的女子油画像。戴尔律师立刻被画中人的炯炯目光以及智慧神韵所吸引,第二天便向画廊购买该画并认识了作者刘亚明。在和年轻中国画家的交往中,他深为刘亚明的才华和百折不挠的艺术追求感动,因此决定帮助他到美国展出画作。

刘亚明是画家中的实干家和苦干家,他租了一幢没有装修的连体别墅,用来创作一组总称为《悟》的巨幅油画。画室大而简陋,可以说没有一块舒适之地,更没有空调电视之类的享乐之物。无论三十几度高温的盛夏还是零下十几度的寒冬,他每天都在这里坚持画十来个小时,简直像宗教狂徒一样心甘情愿过那种苦行僧式的绘画生活。这批以《悟》为总称的系列油画,包括了让人迷恋的《澄明》和梦萦古典的《此岸》诸作,每一幅都有震撼视觉和心魄的效果,是刘亚明几年来梦醒古典、冲击现代的一批鼎力之作,也显现了新一代中国油画家的追求。

《通向众冥的自由之路》创作历时两年。长16米,宽约3米,是一幅由180多个人物组成的宏大的、具有史诗性结构的众生相。画面背景灰暗,阴云密布,象征着人类的“灾难”——即现实生活的压迫。画面上,形态各异奔跑的人群代表现代人的内心躁动和彷徨、压抑与焦虑。全幅画面的着重点为左边地平线处初现的释迦牟尼及画卷中心表情祥和的白衣女郎,他们预示着人类心灵最终的平静与世界的和谐。

著名评论家陈孝信评论道:“刘亚明是一位极具社会责任心的当代画家。他用艺术的方式,呼起当代人内心的觉醒。在他的画作中,也兼用了人文主义、现实主义、表现主义、象征主义等艺术手法。”

可以说,刘亚明的生命里只有油画,也只有油画能带给他人生和艺术的崭新生命。

Introduction to the artist

Liu Yaming was born in Neijiang, Sichuan Province, where Zhang Daqian, a Chinese painting master, once lived. This young painter, who has gained a great reputation in the capital painting circle, started by self-study and succeeded by his love of oil painting.

 

His art growth experience makes people sigh. He studied painting as a young teacher, swept the doors of cinemas, worked in TV stations or studied painting. Finally, in 1985, he had the opportunity to study TV art design in the Fine Arts Department of Beijing Film Academy. At that time, his oil painting has been continuously self-taught with a professional level, its skills and reputation in the rich cultural atmosphere of the capital rapidly improved. He worked as an artist in two TV dramas, Desire and Story of the Editorial Department. Although the two films were well-known, he gave up his "iron rice bowl" for oil painting and became one of the so-called "blind flow painters" in Beijing at this time with bravery and perseverance rarely seen by ordinary people. Liu Yaming's whole life in Beijing is composed of hungry study, crazy creation and earning money with his mind.

 

Since 1988, more than ten national newspapers and magazines in mainland China, such as Fine Arts, China Youth Daily, Beijing Weekly, China Daily, Artists and Contemporary Artists, have introduced Liu Yaming and his works. In 1991, his oil painting "Tibetan elders with 89 descendants" became the cover of the inaugural issue of the German version of the Chinese magazine "Bridge", which received excellent appraisal and attracted more people's attention.

 

So Beijing Concert Hall Gallery, Changfu Palace Gallery, International Art Gallery, Tianlun Dynasty Gallery and Yansha Gallery invited Liu Yaming to display his works. The famous Beijing Yisen Gallery also holds an exhibition for Liu Yaming at the ancient Desheng Gate Tower. In the artistic atmosphere of blending classical and modern art, people can feel the appeal of Liu Yaming's oil paintings to the vision and the impact on the soul. He inherited the painting tradition represented by Rembrandt and sought the complete and pure classical beauty with the cold color and light. In the sunshine of the new century in Beijing, his oil paintings are full of modern charm from line to whole. No wonder so many audiences stayed for a long time before his paintings such as "City", "Makeup", "Grandma in Black Hat", "Green Silk" and "A Zhi's Stage". People who buy Liu Yaming's paintings include many painters, fans and collectors from Europe, America, Taiwan and Hong Kong, besides the land of insight in China.

 

In March 1994, at the invitation of the Roy Biff Museum of Art in Columbia, the capital of Russia, 31-year-old Liu Yaming held his first painting exhibition abroad. The young Chinese oil painters really gave the Americans with high vision a surprise OO a work entitled "grandma", on the canvas, the old man's deep and loving eyes are full of love and his own dull eyes, which has a kind of shocking strength; in the works like "naked bell", "Linlin", the Eastern women's tenderness and tenderness are strongly expressed; and the more that The portrait of the stubborn minority girl makes the visitor go to the mysterious Yunnan-Guizhou plateau through the picture, touching not only the Millennium Sunshine, but also the young and ardent heart of the painter. Many newspapers and TV stations, such as the New York Times and the American Asian News, reported the grand exhibition. The World Daily also published a long story about Liu Yaming in serials.

 

Behind the exhibition, there is another legendary story: Mr. Dale Starks, an American lawyer, traveled to Beijing in 1992. One night, he went out to the hotel for a night. Suddenly, he felt someone staring at him in the roadside window. When he looked closely, it turned out to be a real-life-sized female oil portrait. Lawyer Dell was immediately attracted by the bright eyes and wisdom of the painter. The next day he bought the painting from the gallery and met the author, Liu Yaming. In his contacts with young Chinese painters, he was deeply moved by Liu Yaming's talent and persistent artistic pursuit, so he decided to help him exhibit his paintings in the United States.

 

Liu Yaming is a practical and hard-working painter. He rented a villa without decoration to create a group of giant oil paintings called Wu. The studio is large and humble. It can be said that there is no comfortable place, not to mention air-conditioned TV and other pleasures. Whether in the midsummer of 30 degrees or in the winter of 10 degrees below zero, he persisted in painting here for more than ten hours every day. He was almost as willing as a religious fanatic to live a life of ascetic monk painting. These series of oil paintings with the title of "Wu" include the fascinating works of "Chengming" and "This Shore", each of which has the effect of shaking the vision and soul. It is Liu Yaming's most vigorous work in waking up the classical and impacting the modern in recent years. It also shows the pursuit of a new generation of Chinese oil painters.

 

The Road to Freedom to the Underworld took two years to write. It is 16 metres long and 3 metres wide. It is a magnificent and epic picture of all living beings composed of more than 180 characters. The background of the picture is gray and cloudy, which symbolizes the "disaster" of human beings, that is, the oppression of real life. On the screen, people running in different shapes represent modern people's inner agitation and hesitation, depression and anxiety. The focus of the whole picture is the first Sakyamuni on the left horizon and the peaceful white-dressed girl in the center of the picture, who foreshadows the ultimate peace of the human mind and the harmony of the world.
