蔡鹤汀画作

福建福州人。生前系中国美术家协会会员、陕西省美协常务理事、陕西美协红蓼画苑主任、中国画创作室主任，陕西省戏曲研究院艺委会美术室创作主任，陕西省政协委员，西安市人大代表。长期从事国画创作，尤以画梅著称。早年师法任伯年、并取法吴昌硕、石涛、八大山人等，中年后结合古今，独出新意，富有创新精神。
常以沙砾为纸芦荻作笔习画。及长取法任伯年、王石谷、八大山人、吴昌硕。15岁自立广告社。21岁参加上海大舞台美术设计及上海书画会，与张大千等交游，并举办首次画展。继而於港、澳、京、津、沪、杭等地举办个展，或与兄弟鹤洲举办兄弟画展。

1949年後，先在上海从事还环画创作，後至西安，任陕西省戏曲研究会艺委会委员，设红蓼画苑，任创作组长。中国美术家协会会员，美协陕西分会常务理事，西安市政协委员、市人大代表。擅山水画，晚年多绘花鸟走兽，兼长书法。舞美设计、国画家。宇学彬，又名颐元、深，福建福州人。中国美术家协会会员，陕西分会理事兼国画组长。自幼与其弟鹤洲研习国画，师法任伯年、八大山人，山水，花卉、人物、翎毛，无一不工。早年在上海以卖画为生，后在香港、澳门、上海、北京、天津、杭州、南京、福建、烟台、青岛、济南、西安等地，多次举办个人画展，兄弟画展，夫妇画展(蔡鹤汀与夫人区丽庄，蔡鹤洲与夫人林金秀)，曾在福州创办荻芦盒画室，在西安组织红蓼画苑。蔡氏特长广告、舞美设计。二十世纪、二、三十年代就在福州旧赛乐、新赛乐等闽班从事舞美设计，在上海大舞台、天蟾等戏院、电影院，制作布景，绘制广告。
1951年在西安创办兴武布景公司。1953年加入陕西省秦腔实验剧团，从此成为该团以及后来的陕西省戏曲研究院舞美设计。二十年来该院演出的新剧目，其舞美设计大都出自蔡氏之手。设计的舞美和绘制的布景，在工艺美术的基础上，融进了国画的技巧和手法，虚实结合，讲究意境，富有创造精神，对整个舞台演出起到了烘托气氛的作用。如《恩仇记》中的“绣房”一场，利用平面料画出立体布景，达到既简易明了而又富丽堂皇的效果。《白玉钿》的布景，采用画图案软景制作方法，不但节约简便，而且美观协调。1956年参国陕西省第一届戏剧观摩演出大会，为《法门寺》一剧绘制布景，获大会奖状，出版有《荻芦盦画册》、《花卉写生技法》、《名家花卉画谱》等。曾被聘为西安市政协委员和被选为雁塔区人民代表，曾两度出席陕省文化先进工作者大会。1976年在西安病逝。终年六十七岁。
